Objective 3: From formation data to energy per gram

Before you begin

Your goal: Use formation-enthalpy data to determine the energy change for a balanced reaction, then express that result per gram of a clearly identified substance.

Build the calculation one question at a time. All example data are supplied within the activity; the practice substances are hypothetical.

  1. Read each question and write your answer and reasoning on paper or in your own notes.
  2. Keep your original answer intact. Do not erase or overwrite it.
  3. Switch on “Reveal answer,” then separately record what you got right, what you got wrong, and what you left out.
  4. Rewrite your answer underneath the original, staying as faithful as possible to your own wording while making the necessary corrections and additions.
  5. Finish your reflection and rewrite, then select “Next question.” Earlier questions collapse and can be reopened. The “Compare, then revise” reminder is available inside each answer. The Key connections sidebar grows as you reveal answers.

This page does not collect your answers or save your progress. Write everything separately.

Estimated: 1 hr–1 hr 25 min
Suggested block: 1 hr 30 min

About this estimate

Plan for 60–85 minutes. This includes working through all 14 questions, writing your answers separately, comparing and revising them, and completing the per-gram calculations. The estimate assumes brief responses without outside research. This is a planning estimate; your pace may vary.

Your answers stay in your own notes. This page does not collect responses or save progress. Reloading starts the lesson again.
